Manuel Rausch

Manuel is an assistant professor in Engineering Mechanics at the University of Texas at Austin. His group investigates the mechanics of soft biological materials with a particular interest in cardiovascular tissues. He is also passionate about teaching, outreach, and DEI efforts. In his free time, he likes to whistle and dream about one day going viral.

Emma Lejeune

Emma is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Boston University. Her group is focused on leveraging the state of the art in computational science to investigate multiscale emergent behavior in biological and bio-inspired mechanical systems. She is passionate about promoting open science, and in her free time enjoys drinking iced coffee.

Adrian Buganza

Adrian is an associate professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University. His group uses simulation, machine learning, and experimentation to characterize the multi-scale mechanics of tissues and understand the fundamentals of tissue mechano-adaptation. Outside the lab, Adrian loves cycling, on the road, on gravel, and on Zwift.

Johannes Weickenmeier

Johannes is an assistant professor at Stevens Institute of Technology. His group works on the experimental and computational characterization of soft tissues with a specific interest in brain. He is passionate about teaching and undergraduate education. When not at work, you can find him playing with his daughter or chasing after the perfect cup of coffee.

Matthew Bersi

Matt is an assistant professor at Washington University in St. Louis. His group is focused on the development of experimental and computational approaches to better understand the relationship between biomechanics and inflammation in soft tissues. After work, Matt enjoys spending his time with his kids and taking care of his collection of indoor and outdoor plants
